The Trails at Carmel Mountain Ranch is a unique project designed for 1,200 attainably-priced homes, which required amendments to the general plan, community plan, as well as a rezone. The site was an old golf course that closed in 2018 due to rising water costs.
NUWI was selected as the developer to engage the community and gather input on the future of the property. This led to a proposal to create a new community that joined existing neighborhoods by focusing on connectivity, sustainability, and inclusivity. In 2021, San Diego City Council voted 8-1 to approve the Trails.
